scroll down

Hi there,

i'm ettiene botha or ezra

I'm proudly a South African artist.
I started my own art business in April 2021 and have been quite succesful in growing my business. Since two years has past I have learned many things, and now I want to give the oppurtunity to my younger artist peers, the chance to improve in their art and to give them an oppurtunity to see the possibilities of becoming a fulltime artist.

Working on animation projects and having done multiple artworks and designs for businesses and individuals I have slowly build a reputation for myself. I have collective experience in character design, illustration, contemporary art, graphic design and wed design & developement of 10 years

SOUTH AFRICAN INFORMATION

How much access is available in the Digital Creators field

Studies published by the South African Cultural Observatory last year established that there are 60 animation studios and 49 gaming ones in the country.

This sounds substantial and it is given that these industries are both young — the former has been growing since the late 1990s and the latter the mid 2010s.

However, only a handful of these companies are generating their own intellectual property — original content — while the majority are servicing local and international companies or (in the case of animation) the advertising industry.

Is there a interest to learn Character Design?

There has been a significant rise in digital artists since the Covid pandemic, and I’m seeing of late even more young artists starting to explore digital at a younger age. Whether they are learning character design, backgrounds and everything else in between. It is a good opportunity to assist these aspiring artists. Although in South Africa particularly, the digital space is yet to explode and boost growth in the game and animation industry.

There is still space in the sector to grow in the next few years. But besides South Africa, there are a lot of opportunities available for these young artists overseas as Animation & Game Corporations are always looking for new talent.

for the ages of 13 to 22

the in-person classes will be available to older
ages in the near future

8 week program

In-person worshop

This is the first of it's kind in South Africa. Offering in person classes to learn how create character designs, illustrations and digital art in general.
It's easy to hop onto Youtube, watch a tutorial and then jump into attempting to draw a character. And although it's possible to learn like that, which it is "that is how I learned", it is certainly not easy. Often times you don't have anybody that can help you with your art journey.

This is why I created this, to make the road to experience in learning character design and all sorts of other type of arts easier and faster for you to improve.

teaching the program at your school

By having the opportunity to work and teach the program at your school, there are 2 advantages for the children:
1. The kids get the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and skillset from this program that is not available anywhere else in South Africa.
2. Having the classes after school hours, done on days suitable for the group makes it easier for parents to arrange the days.

insentive

what does your school benefit from this?

For each student that is attending the program (maximum 5 per class) at your school.
